An internet outage took X, formerly Twitter, and several other websites offline the morning of Nov. 18.
Users of those websites were met with a screen that said an error with Cloudflare was to blame. Cloudflare is a service that provides tools to websites that protect them from cyber attacks and keep them online during times of heavy traffic, The Independent reports.
Downdetector, which monitors internet outages and was itself hit by the Cloudflare outage shows a sharp spike in outage reports around 7 a.m. that quickly fell off. By 7:15, several thousand people were still reporting issues.
