MACC Tech stands for “Mining, Asphalt, Concrete & Construction Technology”. The program serves to prepare junior and senior high school students for an exciting and great paying career in the construction industry. High School graduates with a MACC Tech Credential will be prepared for immediate employment in all the associated career paths.

“Aggregates” are materials consisting of sand and gravel, crushed stone and slag. The single largest market for aggregates is road and street construction, including base and asphalt paving for highways, parking lots and other pavements. One mile of a typical four-lane interstate highway with aggregate base requires about 38,000 tons.

“Industrial Minerals” include clays, shales, sand, salt and other non-fuel minerals used in construction and other industrial and commercial uses.

Aggregates and Industrial Minerals are critical to our everyday lives and every Ohioan, on-average uses approximately 11 tons or 22,000 pounds of these material, mined right here in Ohio, every year.

If it, can’t be grown, it has to be mined!

What is MACC Tech?

MACC Tech stands for “Mining, Asphalt, Concrete & Construction Technology”. The program serves to prepare junior and senior high school students for an exciting and great paying career in the construction industry. High School graduates with a MACC Tech Credential will be prepared for immediate employment in all the associated career paths.

OAIMA and our members took a lead role in putting together what we feel is a groundbreaking program that will help fill the employment needs of not only our members, but all of those associated with construction. Recognizing that NOTHING is built without aggregates and industrial minerals, the benefits should be far-reaching.
